Nyob zoo! Welcome! My name is Katie Ballou and I am the middle school mathematics teacher at the Hmong International Academy. I have been with HIA since 2009. I have loved working with children for as long as I can remember and decided to channel that love into teaching. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Bemidji State University in the spring of 2007. I have had experience in classrooms ranging from Kindergarten through 8th grade. I moved to Minneapolis the summer of 2007 and enjoy all the activities that Minneapolis/ St. Paul has to offer.
It is my mission to instill a love for learning upon each of my students. I teach with a love and excitement for math and my goal is for students to share some of that passion for learning. It is my responsibility, as an educator, to prepare my students for their future endeavors. Differentiated instruction is at the forefront of my mission in order for the students to grow to their fullest potential. Recognizing students as individuals by placing values on their cultures play an important role.
I encourage any questions, comments, or concerns you have throughout the school year. I can be reached at 612-668-2250 or firstname.lastname@example.org
